Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.
Then he will fill your barns with grain,
and your vats will overflow with good wine.
My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t be upset when he corrects you.
For the Lord corrects those he loves,
just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom,
the one who gains understanding.
For wisdom is more profitable than silver,
and her wages are better than gold.
Wisdom is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
She offers you long life in her right hand,
and riches and honor in her left.
She will guide you down delightful paths;
all her ways are satisfying.
Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her;
happy are those who hold her tightly.
I asked God for a verse this morning to post as encouragement for such a time as this. I asked that it would be a verse that was obscure, not one of the familiar verses I often go to.
In my quiet time alone with God I have been slowly reading Proverbs 3:5-18, verse by verse, pondering and meditating on every word. It has been both convicting and filled with promises!
I have these verses typed on a separate sheet of paper and as I opened my Bible to find an obscure verse to post today my eyes went from these words typed on my paper to these words in my Bible!
“Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace.”
It was so exact I knew it was God!
There are no coincidences in life.
The placement of my fingers upon my closed Bible to open up to the exact page, and for my eyes to fall directly upon these exact words…
The God who knit me together in my mother’s womb, the God who knows everything about me and whose love I will never be separated from, the God who knows the number of hairs on my head…
This is the One who I am to trust with all my heart, this is the One I am to fear, this is the One who has wisdom worth searching for, this is the One who will lead me in pleasant ways and in paths of peace!
So, while some of these verses are my “go to” verses, the ones following them are more obscure. I trust you will take time to search after God’s wisdom as one would search for silver, gold, and precious jewels!
For wisdom isn’t found in your own understanding, in your own experiences, or in the ways of this world,
Wisdom comes only from God!
