Game Changer!

Queen Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, served at the king’s gate. One day he over heard two of the king’s eunuchs devising a plan to assassinate the king. Mordecai passed this information on to his cousin, Esther, and as queen, Esther was able to relay the information to the king. She included that it was Mordecai that heard of the plot, and it was recorded in the history book.

Mordecai was at the right place and responded in the right way to make the difference of life and death for King Xerxes’

An evil plot had been formed to kill the king.

But, God had salvation for the king, and positioned Mordecai to be the one to save him.

This evil plot to kill the king is one that is still against every person alive today. In the story of Esther the enemies were of flesh and blood, but today our enemy is in the spirit realm. We don’t battle against flesh and blood, but the powers of Satan who come to steal, kill, and destroy us.

Like King Xerxes’, we aren’t aware of the evil plot against us. Satan uses lies and deception to keep us unaware of his strategies.

We need a “Mordecai” to expose the evil plot.

Because God loves us and wants us to be saved He works in ways to reveal the evil plot. He positions “Mordecais,” in our lives to tell us. It may be a friend, a family member, a pastor, or the Holy Spirit that tells us of the evil plot the enemy has against us.

When we realize there is an evil plot against us; the sin nature that we have been born with, meant to steal, kill, and destroy us…

When we realize there is nothing we can do to stop this evil plot against us, and that we need a Savior…

When we realize the truth in John 3:16,

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

And choose to believe that God loves us and sent Jesus to die on the cross so that our sins are forgiven and rose again so that we too will rise to new life…

That’s when we stop the evil plot of Satan devised against us.

That’s when we are saved and begin to live the abundant life Jesus gives us here on earth, and we receive the promise of living forever in heaven with God!

That is the game changer, the difference of life and death!

The positioning of Mordecai saved the life of one man, the king. Yet, it was the game changer in this story that takes it from being about the salvation of one man to the salvation  of the Jewish people.

Sometimes we can take our salvation for granted. We can forget the evil plot that was against us and how God showed us the truth that set us free. We can take the “life” that God gave us through Jesus’ death on the cross for granted and keep living as though nothing has changed.

King Xerxes’ did just that. He put to death those who plotted evil against him, but then went on living for himself. He forgot about the evil plot and the one who saved his life.

But, God didn’t forget!

God had a perfect plan!

God’s salvation of one, lead to the salvation of many!

God doesn’t save us just for our own sake. God intends that our salvation brings salvation to many!

He wants to position us in places so that we expose the evil plots against others so they too will be saved.

It was a normal day of work for Mordecai when he heard the two men discussing the evil plot against the king. Mordecai could have responded differently…he could have chosen to not listen, thinking it was none of his business. He could have ignored their words, thinking he didn’t want to get involved, or he could have been afraid of what might happen to him of he told anyone what he heard.

One thing I have learned is that the enemy will go to many extremes so that others won’t hear of his strategies against  people. He will wrap his evil plots in deception, in secrecy, in shame, or even pride so that they stay hidden, so nobody else finds out.

What about you?

Are you as King Xerxes’ who has an evil plot formed against you that needs to be exposed so that you can be saved?

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” Romans 3:23-25

Or… Is God calling you, positioning you to be a “Mordecai” for someone who has an evil plot formed against them?

This past weekend I had the opportunity to be a “Mordecai” to a friend. We were sitting at the breakfast table just chatting when she began to tell me some things she experienced which she had never told anyone about. As she shared what others had done and spoken over her, anger rose up within her. I saw her hurt and pain. I could see how those experiences kept her in a prison of fear; living defeated. But as we talked she began to realize that it wasn’t the people in her life that hurt her, it wasn’t the experiences she went through that defined her, but it was an evil plot of the enemy that was stealing from her life and destroying her. Then she saw something she never saw before, she saw it was jealousy of others that brought their hatred and accusations. It was the “Jesus” in her they didn’t like because it made them feel “bad.” By putting her down, accusing her, speaking evil over her, it made them feel better. Once she realized it was a battle in the spirit realm her anger turned from people, to Satan. It was no longer a conversation of how awful people had been to her. Her real “enemy” was exposed. His evil plot was revealed. It now became a matter of prayer before the throne of God. Together we renounced the lies, the word curses, and the generational lines of iniquity, that were meant to destroy her and  we took those evil strategies of the enemy to the cross of Jesus. We proclaimed the words of Jesus over them, “It is finished!” We applied the blood of Jesus to wash and cleanse her. And we called forth the truth of God’s word, and claimed the promises of abundant life over her.

I’m so thankful for God’s positioning. For giving the opportunity for Holy Spirit to reveal the hidden secrets and lies that my friend experienced in her past. What seemed like a normal day, sharing breakfast together, turned into a game changer…a matter of spiritual life and death!

And I am confident it wasn’t just to save my friend, but it was intended for the salvation of many others who will hear her story and be forever changed!

Who is God calling you to be a “Mordecai” to?
